How Twitter Can Inspire Your Home Decor

Redecorating your home can be a little difficult if you don’t have a clear vision of what you want. Whether you’re feeling uninspired or don’t know where or who to turn to for ideas, rest assured that inspiration is all around you! Consider social media – the place where countless American’s spend hours at a time throughout day-to-day life. The outlets you may only think of when you want to reconnect with a friend can be one of the biggest inspiration for your home decor. Many TV shows, celebrity designers, and local interior decorators will have a social media presence. Discover how to uncover the best interior design inspiration from Twitter:

  • Hashtags. (#)are used in order to group common topics together and create a makeshift community. For example, if you were to post a photo of your new family room after it’s renovated, you could use #homedecor and it will pop up in the feeds of anyone who searches that hashtag. Other hashtags you could use would be: #interiordesign, #architecture, #fixerupper and #hgtv. Just as you use these hashtags, you can search with them as well. This will open you to that community of posts and ultimately, a showcase of home decorating ideas.
  • People. Are you obsessed with @NateBerkus, @JonathanAdler, or @KathyIreland? Well, all of these designers have Twitter profiles where they post everything from DIY ideas to personal design preferences to contests. Celebrities aren’t the only Twitter-savvy designers out there. Do a quick search for designers and decorators located near your home.  are active on Twitter, like many other design companies. Often, you can also page through their portfolios and photos to see if they are someone you can draw an idea or two from. Plus, you’ll often find designer Twitter feeds loaded with helpful tips and tricks!
  • Photos. If you are not interested in reading tweets and simply want to look at pictures, you can! If you’re on a desktop, type a query into the Twitter search bar and then choose the photos option on the top navigation bar that appears in the results. You will get a feed full of images that you can pull inspiration from. If any particular photo piques your interest, you can click on it to get the full tweet and see the source, as well as more information.
