How to Bring Unexpected Luxe into Your Home

According to Pinterest, many homeowners will give luxurious makeovers to their house’s nooks and crannies in 2022. What does this mean? Instead of doing full-blown home renovations, many people will make smaller spaces more luxurious. This idea is especially beneficial if you haven’t updated your decor in a while and the rooms in your house feel dull and drab.

Here are five rooms to bring unexpected luxe into:

1. Laundry Room

Staying organized is a goal for many homeowners. When a room is clutter-free and organized, it can feel quite luxurious even if the items in there are less than glamourous. One area where you can test this theory is in the laundry room. Storage solutions can get expensive and often consist of plastic bins. To add a sense of luxe, consider using apothecary jars to store your detergent, dryer balls, and even clothespins. You can find these jars at second-hand stores or online. Once you’ve filled them, place them on stylish floating shelves, and you will have transformed a cramped laundry room into a space where you might almost enjoy doing the laundry.

2. Powder Room

Homeowners often overlook the powder room since it’s a small space not equipped for relaxation. While you may not spend a lot of time there, your guests will most likely use this space whenever they are at your house. Make them feel pampered and special by adding some luxe design into this space. Create visual interest with wallcoverings rich in texture and color. Then add luxurious bars of soap and fluffy hand towels. You can also have essential oils diffusing in there, giving it a spa-like quality.

3. Nursery or Child’s Bedroom

You might not think of your kid’s room as a place for luxury since they typically have clothes and toys everywhere. But don’t let this stop you from creating a space that looks and feels just as glam as the rest of your house. Consider adding an open bookcase in the room. When you have an open bookcase, you can store their books together in small groupings, some stacked horizontally, some vertically, for an elevated appearance. On the shelves higher up, you can fill in the spaces with delicate accents such as baby shoes, a rattle, or a piggy bank. You can use large containers on the lower shelves for additional storage. The way you style the bookcase makes all the difference.

4. Gaming Room

Do you have a gaming room in your house? If so, add an unexpected pop of luxury. Whether your gaming room theme is video, retro, arcade, or even superhero, the best way you can add luxe to this space is with the lighting. For instance, you can hang colored glass light fixtures over a pool table. Or, for a futuristic modern look, you can use brightly colored LED lights to trim consoles, screens, tables, and more. A Dover, DE interior designer says, “the versatility of lighting options means you can find something that works with your theme and adds luxury without spending a lot of money.”

5. Basement

The basement is another space that often gets overlooked for luxury features, opting to keep it practical and functional. Break the mold and make your basement a luxurious getaway right in your very own home. You can use open bookcases or floating shelves to display your wine collection. After all, nothing says luxury like a wine cellar. Or you can simply add some crown molding or wainscotting to trim the room. These minor upgrades just might make it your favorite room in the home.

Make Your Home Feel More Luxurious

Sometimes it’s the minor changes that make the most significant impact. Don’t be afraid to add unexpected pops of luxury throughout your house. The process doesn’t have to be expensive. Sometimes, decluttering and diffusing essential oils is all you need to make a space feel luxurious.
