Bringing Nature Into Home Decor

Sep 14

Fall is a great time to refresh the look of your home. As a bonus, fall brings with it some of the most beautiful colors and elements found in nature that can be easily incorporated into your home design. Refresh the look of your interior space by inviting nature into your home.

  • Use up-cycled wood to create functional pieces. Reclaimed wood has become a very popular trend in home design, and can add a rustic, natural element to a room in the form of a dining room table or shelving units. If you’re feeling inspired, you can take it upon yourself to create a table of your own with recycled materials. An old wooden palette can be transformed into a functional piece of furniture with a few coats of wax resin and some legs.
  • Reupholster furniture with rich floral patterns. Sometimes all it takes to update the look of a space is the reupholstering of a furniture piece. Bring nature into a room with a playful flower pattern. If you feel like this might look too busy, incorporate a floral throw rug or accent pillows into your decor to bring nature in. You can also play with the bright colors found in the fall, like the yellow and orange hues found in leaves, and use those to create vibrant accent furniture without the noise of a pattern.
  • Work colors from nature into your decor by refreshing your walls with a coat of paint. Natural wall colors often work best in pairs. Bonita Springs painters recommend colors like Warm Sienna and Earth to use for wainscoting walls in living spaces like the kitchen and dining room. If your space isn’t large enough to play with a lot of color, there are plenty of neutral colors in the nature color palette that can be spruced up with accents.
  • Create a centerpiece with faux leaves, branches, and flowers. Not everyone has time to change and water a floral centerpiece every day, but you can create one that will last the entire season with a few supplies from your local craft store. Spray paint faux twigs and branches gold or silver, and surround them by decorative leaves and autumnal flowers to create a modern center piece for a dining room or living room table.

Introduce nature into your design scheme and welcome the fall season with these design tips!
